YENOPAYA UNIVERSITY ADMISSION NOTICE & EXAM DETAILS


Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission for the following courses for the Academic year 2011-12.

· Yenepoya Medical College, Deralakatte, Mangalore.
(Recognised by the Medical council of India and is a constituent college of Yenepoya University)
M.B.B.S. – 4 ½ Years Plus One Year Internship - 100 seats (subject to variation)


· Yenepoya Dental College, Deralakatte, Mangalore.
(Recognised by the Medical council of India and is a constituent college of Yenepoya University)
B.D.S. – 5 YEARS - 100 seats (subject to variation)
Application forms may be obtained from the office of the undersigned and can also be downloaded from our website www.yenepoya.edu.in (Notice Board). Duly filled in application should reach the undersigned on or before the last date prescribed along with a DD for Rs.750/- (nonrefundable) towards registration fee in favour ofYenepoya University, payable at Mangalore.

(Yenepoya University reserves the right to allot the centre other than the one chosen by the applicant)
Every challenge to the Answer keys has to be sent along with a D.D. for Rs.250/- drawn in favour of Yenepoya University payable at Mangalore. In case the challenge is correct the amount will be refunded otherwise the amount will not be refunded. Decision of the Chief Examiner / Coordinator will be final.
* Ragging is strictly prohibited & will attract stringent penal action. (GOI/MCI Notification regarding Prohibition of ragging is appended herewith).

Eligibility for Admission to M.B.B.S & B.D.S
.

· The applicant should have passed the two-year Pre-University Examination in Karnataka or its equivalent examination.
· The candidate should have completed seventeen years of age as on 31st December of the academic year of admission.
· The candidate shouId have studied Physics,Chemistry and BioIogy in the qualifying examination conducted by any recognized Indian Higher Secondary Board or equivalent qualification
· Candidates who have passed B.Sc.examinations are also eligible for admission subject to the subjects grouping as approved by the University.
· The candidate should have secured not less than 50% aggregate in the Science subjects in the qualifying examination and a pass in English for admission to MBBS and BDS. However, for candidates belonging to scheduied caste and scheduled tribe categories, the minimum aggregate is 40%.
· The candidate should be medically fit.
· Any other conditions laid down by the University from time to time.
· Admission shall be subject to the approval of Yenepoya University.
· The candidate has to submit, in original, the following documents :
a) SSLC Certificate
b) PUC 2 Certificate
c) Transfer Certificate.

About Yenepoya Medical College

Yenepoya Medical College was instituted in the year 1999, with a batch of 100 students. Currently, the first four batches have successfully completed their Internship. By the year 2005, postgraduate courses in eight clinical branches and also in Pathology, were commenced. The UG & PG courses are recognized by the Medical Council of India and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore.
The Yenepoya Medical College Hospital comprises a 722 bed, fully functional hospital providing general and specialist care, either totally free or in some cases at heavily subsidized rates. It caters to the health care needs & community care of the regions of Dakshina Kannada & Northern Kerala.

The Yenepoya Medical College Academic Block has the following facilities: The Departments of Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pharmacoiogy, Pathology, Microbiolow, Community Medicine and Forensic Medicine are housed here. Each department has staff rooms, Demonstration Halls (with 5O seating capacity), Students Laboratory, Departmental Library cum Seminar Room, Research Laboratories, Store and Technician's Room. Infrastructure facilities provided more than meet the MCI norms. The departments of Anatomy and Forensic Medicine have state of the art museum with collections of gross specimens, rnodets, charts, photographs, mansparency slides and other exhibits. Forensic Medicine museum has a large collection of weapons, poisons and different types of dead snakes commonly seen in the country. There is a "History of Medicine" museum attached to the department of Pharmacology. The department of Microbiology also has a museum with collections of photographs and models of viruses and bacteria. There is also a department of medical illustration & photography. We have a full time Campus Officer and a visiting student counselor.
The Demonstration halls are provided with excellent seating arrangements and latest audio visual equipments.
Lecture Halls/Seminar rooms: There are 5 lecture halls of in the Academic Block. All departments have their own attached seminar rooms. All audio visual aids like sound amplifier system, overhead projection, 35 mrn slide projection and LCD projections are provided in the lecture theatres and most of the seminar rooms. The staff uses power point presentations in their lectures as also the postgraduates during their seminars & journal clubs.
The data of all our students both (YMC & YDC) with respect to attendance, scholastic performance & overall progress are recorded, stored and retrieved from a software program called Studens Information System (SIS). On regular intervals parents are informed about the progress of their wards.
The Library cum Digital Information Centre is situated in the Academic block with ample contemporary furniture and lightings. The library is well stocked.
The postgraduate section is in the lower basement floor of the dual level library, Photocopying service, a reading room & a prayer area are also provided within the library. The Library, spread over 1377 sq, mts has a good collection of back volumes of journals. The seating is ergonomically designed to provide comfort and privacy.
The Examination Hall has a large seating capacity and is designed such that all students are in clear view of the supervisor. The hall is under camera surveillance. Indoor Auditorium is housed in the Academic Block of the Yenepoya Medical College.
Separate Recreation Rooms are available for boys & girls in the Academic Block
The Academic Block has a total built up area of 12536 sq. meters.
